The fixes for the usual problems are below. If yours isn't here, write to contact@agiss.online and we'll answer.
Finding Teclo
Teclo lives in the menu bar and has no Dock icon. Click the keycap icon in the menu bar to open its window, and right-click it to pause Teclo or quit it. Options is at the bottom right of the window.
Allowing Input Monitoring
Teclo needs the Input Monitoring permission to notice key presses while you work in other apps. Without it, it plays no sound when you type.
- The first time you open Teclo, its window opens with a note at the top: “Teclo can't hear your keys yet”. Click Continue.
- macOS shows its own prompt. Choose the button that opens System Settings.
- Under Privacy & Security, Input Monitoring, switch Teclo on.
- Quit Teclo and open it again. macOS may offer to do this for you.
Allowing it again
macOS shows its prompt only once. If you declined it, or the permission was switched off later, open System Settings, go to Privacy & Security, then Input Monitoring, and switch Teclo on. While the permission is missing, Teclo's window opens every time the app starts, and the button in its note takes you to that list. Then quit Teclo and open it again.
If Teclo is already switched on in the list and still silent, switch it off and on again, then quit and reopen Teclo.
No sound when you type
- Look at the icon in the menu bar. A dimmed icon means Teclo is paused or doesn't have the Input Monitoring permission.
- If you have just allowed Input Monitoring, quit Teclo and open it again: right-click the menu bar icon and choose Quit Teclo, then start it from your Applications folder.
- Check that Teclo isn't paused. The switch at the top right of the window turns the sounds on and off, and so does Pause Teclo or Resume Teclo when you right-click the menu bar icon.
- Check the volume slider at the bottom left of the window. It is Teclo's own volume, separate from your Mac's, so check that your Mac isn't muted too.
- If only some keys are silent, open Options. “Silence modifier keys” mutes Shift, Control, Option and Command, and “Play mouse click sounds” decides whether clicks make a sound.
Turning the pet off
Open Options and untick “Show the pet”. Tick it again to bring the pet back. To keep the pet but move it out of the way, drag it anywhere on screen. A click on the pet opens the page where you change how it looks.
Turning power-ups off
Click the pet to open its page. Under Powers, untick On fire, Charged, Hero or Legend, and the pet shows the highest ticked level under the one you earned. Under Extras, untick Return burst, Combo, Cool-down or Yawn to stop that reaction. The eye next to each one previews it. Your ticks stay when you pick a preset, Randomize or Reset.
Your own sounds
Open Options and click “Open custom sounds folder”. The folder opens in Finder; it is inside Teclo's own data, at ~/Library/Containers/app.teclo.Teclo/Data/Library/Application Support/Teclo/Sounds.
Each folder you put there is a sound pack, named after the folder. A pack holds WAV files for a key going down and coming up: generic1-down.wav and generic1-up.wav through generic5 for ordinary keys, and the same pair for space, enter and backspace. Your pack appears in the list, under Imported, the next time you open the window.
Refunds
Teclo is sold through the Mac App Store, so Apple takes the payment and decides on refunds. We can't refund a purchase ourselves. To ask for one, sign in at reportaproblem.apple.com, choose to request a refund, and pick Teclo.
